About This Story

Tonight's story is called The Moth and the Lantern Moon. When a little moth named Nuri sets out on his very first night flight through the Lantern Woods, he finds himself dazzled by every glowing light he passes — and ends up following the wrong ones, again and again, until he is lost among the dark trees. But high above the woods hangs one steady light that never flickers or fools anyone: the Lantern Moon. By the end, Nuri learns that not every bright thing is worth chasing, and that when he stops flapping about in a panic and instead looks up, calls on Allah اللّٰه, and follows the one true light, he is never really lost at all.
