About This Story

Tonight's story is called Ruqqayyah and the Gentle River. When Ruqqayyah goes to fold petal-boats with her friends at the River of Moon Petals, her hurried, frustrated hands tear every boat she tries to make — and later, that same hurried touch nearly frightens away a little duckling caught in the reeds. By the end, with her mother's gentle reminder of how the Prophet ﷺ treated even the smallest of Allah's creatures with رِفْق (gentleness), Ruqqayyah learns that soft hands and a soft heart can do what force never could. She discovers that gentleness isn't weakness — it's one of the most beautiful strengths a person can carry.

What Your Child Can Learn
