About This Story

Tonight's story is called Ruqqayyah and the Moonlit Garden. When Ruqqayyah sees her neighbor's garden bursting with new, colorful flowers, her own quiet garden suddenly feels plain and disappointing beside it. But as the full moon rises, her grandmother tells her about a moonflower that blooms only once a year — and only in a garden that has been cared for with a grateful heart. As Ruqqayyah waits and watches, she begins to notice all the small blessings she'd stopped seeing: the smell of jasmine, the fireflies, the fig tree that has fed her family for years. By the end, she learns that شُكْر — gratitude isn't about having the most — it's about seeing what الله — Allah has already given you.
