About This Story

Tonight's story is called Ruqqayyah and the Lantern Horizon. When Ruqqayyah's grandmother asks her to carry a small lantern up the hill to a place called the Lantern Horizon, Ruqqayyah feels nervous — she has never walked the path after dark, and she cannot see where it leads. As mist rolls in and the way grows harder to follow, Ruqqayyah must decide whether to turn back or keep walking, trusting that Allah اللّٰه knows the path even when she does not. By the end, Ruqqayyah discovers that her lantern glows brightest not when she can see the whole road, but when she keeps taking the next small step with a trusting heart — and that this quiet trust has a name: tawakkul.
