About This Story

Tonight's story is called Emaan and the Lantern of Kindness. When Emaan is given an old copper lantern by her grandmother, she's told it only lights up through kindness — and Emaan, who is far too shy to talk to anyone she doesn't know, is sure it will stay dark forever. When her first careful attempts at kindness go unnoticed, she almost gives up on the lantern altogether. But when she finally helps someone who truly needs her, expecting nothing in return, she discovers that kindness was never about being seen — it was about being sincere. By the end, Emaan's little lantern is glowing so brightly it lights the whole lane home, and she learns that the warmest kindness is often the quietest.
