About This Story

Tonight's story is called Zakariya and the Star Lantern. When five-year-old Zakariya's family tells him they must leave the only home he's ever known on Starlight Ridge, he feels like his whole world is going dark. He carries his grandfather's old star lantern everywhere, but even its light seems to dim along with his heart. Through the patient words of his grandfather and a quiet night spent beneath the real stars, Zakariya learns that hope isn't a feeling that shows up on its own — it's something you choose to hold onto, the same way you'd hold a lantern through the dark. By the end, Zakariya discovers that wherever he goes, the same stars — and the same Allah اللّٰه who placed them there — will always be above him.

The Dua

Rabbana la tuzigh qulubana ba'da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah, innaka antal-Wahhab.

Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.
