About This Story

Tonight's story is called Aaliyah and the Secret Cloud. When seven-year-old Aaliyah cannot fall asleep because she is worried about reciting her surah in front of her whole class tomorrow, her mother reminds her that no worry is too small to bring to Allah اللّٰه. That night, Aaliyah drifts into a dream and finds herself in the Cloud Kingdom, holding a little basket meant to carry her dua up to the stars. As a gathering storm cloud grows heavier with every worried thought she keeps to herself, Aaliyah learns that saying her fear out loud to Allah اللّٰه — honestly, quietly, in her own words — is what turns the storm into starlight. By the end, she wakes with a calm heart, ready to face the morning, carrying with her the secret that a dua whispered before sleep is never too small to be heard.
