About This Story

Tonight's story is called The Secret Bedtime Kingdom. Every night Hana's mind fills up with a hundred busy thoughts, and no matter how tired she is, sleep never seems to come. But tonight, a small silver door appears behind her curtains, and she steps into the hidden Dreamlight Kingdom — a place that only appears at bedtime for children whose hearts are too full to rest. There she meets the Keeper of the Kingdom, an old lantern-maker who shows her the Whispering Moonstone, a stone that only glows when someone truly lets go of their worries and trusts them to Allah اللّٰه. Hana learns, step by gentle step, what it means to hand her busy heart over to her Lord before sleep. By the end, as she recites her dua and closes her eyes, she discovers that the real secret kingdom was never behind the curtain at all — it was the peace that Allah اللّٰه places in a trusting heart.

The Dua

Bismika Rabbi wada'tu janbi, wa bika arfa'uhu, fa-in amsakta nafsi farhamha, wa in arsaltaha fahfazha bima tahfazu bihi 'ibadakas-salihin.

In Your name, my Lord, I lie down, and in Your name, I rise. If You take my soul, have mercy on it, and if You release it, protect it with that with which You protect Your righteous servants.

— Sahih Bukhari
