About This Story

Tonight's story is called "The Little Horse's Dua." When a young horse named Amir wanders too far from his herd chasing fireflies across Starlight Fields, the sun sinks, the sky turns dark, and he finds himself completely alone. At first Amir tries to find his own way home, but the fields only grow bigger and stranger in the dark. It is an old tortoise named Hilm who reminds him of something his mother once taught him — that whenever he feels small and afraid, he can speak to اللّٰه, and he is never truly alone. By the end, Amir learns that dua is not just words for the hardest moments, but a quiet friend he can carry with him always.

The Dua

Rabbana la tuzigh qulubana ba'da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah, innaka antal-Wahhab.

Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.

— Surah Ali 'Imran (3:8)
