About This Story

Tonight's story is called The Yak and the Snow Lantern. When a tired little yak is given the honour of carrying the valley's lantern all the way up the snowy mountain for the very first time, his legs grow heavy and his heart grows heavier still, and halfway up the steep white slope he wants nothing more than to turn back. But step by small step, breath by breath, and dua by dua, he learns that Allah اللّٰه never asks us to leap the whole mountain at once — only to take the next step in front of us. By the time he reaches the peak, the little yak isn't just carrying a lantern. He's carrying proof, glowing warm in his own chest, that he can keep going even when it's hard.
